BASIC ENGINEERING AND FEASIBILITY STUDY REQUIRED IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE OPTIMAL ELECTRIC POWER DISTRIBUTION PLAN FOR THE GRIDS OWNED BY THE APATIT CO.
In May 2019 our company EF-TEK completed the Basic Engineering and Feasibility Study which were required in order to determine the optimal electric power distribution plan (scheme) for the grids operated by the regional department “Balakovo” of the the Apatit Co. (the town of Balakovo is located in the Saratov region of Russia). As part of our work scope, we did the following:
- elaborated on whether or not it was feasible to use a back-pressure turbine as opposed to a condensing turbine with industrial grade steam bleeding. This part of the job also included performing all the calculations needed to substantiate our opinion;
- elaborated on which power distribution option would be the best one for Apatit-owned grids (also taking the power output diagram into consideration);
- performed short current calculations based on the new power supply diagram;
- performed network calculations for the new power supply system configuration;
- performed the required calculations in order to determine, whether or not a new house transformer substation would be required to support the currently existing house auxiliaries power supply system;
- performed the steam balance calculations for the whole enterprise, in order to determine the correct type and size of the new turbine and generator to be installed;
- defined locations and proposed layout arrangements for the new equipment to be installed;
- defined the optimal routes for the new power cables to be installed as part of the required Apatit Co. power system upgrade; when defining those routes, existing and already planned cable lines-related structures were taken into account.
